Cara Delevingne - homework

I want to introduce you one special woman. It is possible that you have heard something about her. In press, TV or on social networks. She is an icon of our time for young people. Her name is Cara Delevingne.
She is a British most successful model based in Storm modeling agency. She celebreted 22nd birthday in the middle of August. She has been called "only true modern supermodel", "the face of the decade".
Cara was born in London to her mother Pandora and father Charles Delevingne. She modeled for the first time when she was 10 in a story for Italian Vogue. Mrs. Delevingne was dicovered by Sarah Doukas, owner of a London modeling agency called Storm. When she was young she thought about herself as short, not skinny enough and ugly. Her sister Poppy is model too. Cara is blond and 5 feet nine tall. 177 cm tall. Her measturements are 79-61-86 cm. Her figure is really skinny although she eats a lot of junk food.
Why is she so special and famous? No one knows real answer. Niether Cara. When she became really popular it was like volcano erruption. Suddenly she was apparing everywhere. Her bold eyebrows are her widely popular trademark. Cara walked on runway and was part of campaignes for Fendi,DKNY,Mullberry,Topshop,Saint Laurent,Chanel,Marc Jacobs, Victoria Secret and more. She was on the cover of Vogue, ELLE and many more. She has great energetic catwalk. You have to look at her all the time.
She treat the camera like a person. She claims that photos are a flat thing and you need to put life into them. Cara has and expressive face that can go from glam to goofy to smoldering to innocent. She suffers from stress-induced psoriasis. It is really hard for her, mainly in the time of fashion week she cannot afford to be like pepper. She is official muse for Karl Lagerfeld from chanel. At the and of the show she walked with him on a runway. It is a great honor for model.
People call her like the next Kate Moss. They are not the same but they have something in common.
They are global model icons, people love them and they shine as much as the stars in the sky.
She is friend with everyone. For example with Rihanna, Rita Ora, Georgia May Jagger. Cara is social media itself. She uses social media and it is just part of the way she lives. Delevingne is innovative, exciting and cannot stop expressing herself. Who is able to take selfie on the catwalk ? Of course Cara Delevingne. She is posting on Instagram constantly. She has more than 6,5 millions followers. Her posts are playfully provocative. She has created Instagram account even for her rabbit Cecil. She has so many tatoos. It is weird that she even has them. In every modeling contract they write that you cannot have any tatoos or piercings. But she is the class.
She is not only model but singer, drummer and actress too. She acted in Anna Karenina and The Face Of An Angel. On Forbes 2014 list of highest paid models, she is earning 3,5 millions dollars a year. Ridiculous. She has many scandals too. The recent news said that she was dating a girl. Michelle Rodrigues. But she is not lesbian she claims. Cara is big supporter of gender equality. And basically said. She is bisexual. A few months ago one thing happened. She was in front of her apartment when she dropped bag of mysterious white powder. You can guess what was that.
Cara is successful person. In many ways. She has achieved so many contracts with agencies, brands and she is friend with everyone. But here is one thing I admire. Delevingne is thoughtful, chatty and always herself.
I think it's nice to break down that barrier, that models are seen and not heard. She doesnt care what people think. She is doing what she loves to do. Cara pulled down to her side many people and it's incredible. I want to meet her once in my life. I hope for that. Thank you for your attention!

20th & 21st day - Portobello Road and school

On Friday I had school till 1 pm. I, Andreiy,Vika, Nada went to Portobello road. I love this part of London. So many vintage stuff, from old jackets to army clothes to pearls. Portobello road is really long. Just warning :) I have desperately wanted frozen youghurt. But unfortunatelly I could not pay with card there. In my opinion in London the accept cash more than cards. I was sooo sad. Then we took bus to  Picadelly Circus and then we went to Pret A Manger. Vikas favourite place. And guess what. That nice waiter gave her free coffee. Lucky and happy girl. She was like in the dreamland.

We traveled by train to Waterloo East because we wanted to show our school to Nada. It was like 7 pm and good idea was go to Big Ben. So we did. It was quite dark and St.James park was completely dark. We just sat there and talked for a while. We were hungry so our destination was to come back near the river. But of course we accidentaly went to opposit side. We  have reached Buckingham palace and from Green park we went to Picadelly. Again. My legs were in a huge pain. We were so exhausted when we found McDonald and had nuggets and chips. I was soo tired.

Next day I had school...nothing interesting.

17th & 18th & 19th day - Luna, school, Chinatown, Camden Market

On Tuesday was  special day. I was celebrating my name day. Linda! I got some nice texts. The finale of Elite Model Look took place in Prague. My friend Barbora won that! So happy and proud. I had school and then I and Luna and another German girl went to Oxford Street. We ordered pizza in Pizza Hut. We were so full. Then Luna wanted to buy some great top and the way headed to Urban Outfitters and American Apparel. In Urban we found one sweather. It looked like my mum can do that. And guess what?! Its pice was around 600 pounds. Ridiculous. I bought some souvenires for my family and then went home because I was really tired.

On Wednesday nothing much happened. Just school and actually I met one boy in Academic writing. He is really nice. And I had bubble tea.

On Thursday , btw today, Me , Viki , Andriy ( Ukraina/Italy) , Viktorias friends Naďa and Taja went to Chinatown. There are so many Chinese restaurants. We orderes Noodles and bubble tea. Different than we are used to but it was all right. Next destination - Camden Market. Fav place. Girls bought some....stuff. And we went to real market. Everything looked so crazy and food so tasty. I had pancake with nutella. Yummy. On our way by tube to Waterloo we had so much luck and met one man. Drunk and Russian man. He was talking to us and we didnt understand anything. We were happy when we got to the train station. Then everybody left home. Nice day.

Václav Havel - homework

President, playwright, humorist, poet, dissident, and human rights activist. Vaclav Havel was born in 1936 in Prague.   The Communist regime did not allow Havel to have a formal education after his necessary schooling. He worked in chemical laboratory for four years while taking evening classes.

Havel, after completing his military service, studied Drama from the Theater Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. His first play was The Garden Party that won him international acclaim. It was staged in the lines of the Theater of the Absurd. Although his plays became internationally popular, they were banned from being staged in former Czecho-Slovakia.

Havel was an outspoken dissident; he made a commentary on the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czecho-Slovakia events on Radio Free Czecho-Slovakia. And then got arrested.

Havel became the President of former Czecho-Slovakia in 1989. He again became President of the Czech Republic in 1993 after its formation from the Czech-Slovakia split. He is known for the release of some political prisoners after the collapse of the Communist regime who he believed did not receive a fair trial in the past.

Havel was politically active from the events of the Prague Spring and became famous for his role in the human rights Manifesto, Charter 77 in 1977. He was the leader of the opposition party and he was imprisoned for years.

In 1989, after the Velvet Revolution, he became President.
He was part of entry of the former Warsaw-Pact alliance nations into NATO and for Czech Republic’s entry into the European Union.

Havel’s belief in non-violence  around brought him  several admirers. Bill Clinton compared him to Gandhi while Margaret Thatcher’s  discussed her admiration and respect for Vaclav Havel for his belief in democracy. Havel lived by the motto, “Truth and love must prevail over lies and hate.”

Havel was Chair of the International Council of the Human Rights Foundation. He supported the Czech Green Party.

Vaclav Havel died in his sleep in his 75 years in 2011.
Many people admired him and here are the reactions to his death.

A great fighter for the freedom of nations and for democracy has died . . . His outstanding voice of wisdom will be missed in Europe, which is going through a serious crisis. I am praying for the peace of his soul" — Solidarity founder and Poland's former president Lech Walesa.

"His peaceful resistance shook the foundations of an empire, exposed the emptiness of a repressive ideology, and proved that moral leadership is more powerful than any weapon. ... He also embodied the aspirations of half a continent that had been cut off by the Iron Curtain, and helped unleash tides of history that led to a united and democratic Europe." — U.S. President Barack Obama.
"His dedication to freedom and democracy is as unforgotten as his great humanity . . . We Germans also have much to thank him for." — German Chancellor Angela Merkel

"No one of my generation will ever forget those powerful scenes from Wenceslas Square two decades ago. Havel led the Czech and Slovak people out of tyranny. And he helped bring freedom and democracy to our entire continent. Europe owes Vaclav Havel a profound debt. Today his voice has fallen silent. But his example and the cause to which he devoted his life will live on" — British Prime Minister David Cameron.

15th & 16th day - THORPE PARK and cycling, cinema

Hello :)

Today is Sunday. I means my weekend has just started again. I went with EF group to Thorpe Park. It is an amusement park. Rollercoasters, attractions, rides. Dream world for people who love adrenaline. Such as for me. I have always wanted to go there and enjoy it. We came there and the sun was gone. nooo please why?! EF leader gave us tickets and our trip officialy started. Thorpe park is huge. It is twice bigger than Prater in Vienna. It was a possibility to pay more for Fastrack. It means we could go to 4 rides faster than others. It was different queue. At the end we were soo happy we bought it. Standing in  a line and waiting 75 minutes for one ride. Horrible. But we had a Fastrack. And for one ...the best one... it was worth it to wait so long. The Saw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW6t_MiUy1w . There were so many attractions. It is too much for one day. In some point rides were scary. But it was adrenaline when you were upside down and going sooo fast. I loved that.

Here is video from Thorpe park https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifbz5KR_8R0

On Monday was my second day of weekend. Me and Viki went to Hyde Park to take a bike and ride around the park. It wasnt raining. It was so relaxing. We have seen Hyde park in like 30 minutes by bike. Then we saw Harrods. So huge buidlding. Hunger was so strong. We have visied  Burger King because we wanted to be in cinema on time. Cinema was in West End. Lovely. Movie we chose was What If. It was challenging . It was without subtitles. It was hard to understand him sometimes. But I enjoyed whole movie.

Innovative leader - homework

You can find so many types of leaders out there.  I want to tell you something about innovative leader. Words innovation and leadership are closely related.

Leadership is a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others, towards the achievement of a goal.
Innovation is about making new tools, products or processes bringing something new which allows people to accomplish something they were not able to accomplish before. Leaders are innovators.  We have to ask 3 questions. Who? Innovator. What? An innovation. How? Process of innovating.

Begin with question who is innovative leader.  He is creative visioner who have big ideas and can motivate people around him to turn those ideas into reality. He recognizes a great idea and creates the path that leads to that ideas becoming reality. When he has formed vision he needs to be able to share it with empolyees and business partners. Innovative leader needs a powerful imagination and excellent communication skills, confidence in his team and their ability to work together to achieve that dream.

His team needs to be able to see the visions in themselves and be willing to invest their own time and resources into making it happen. The most important things are enthusiasm, motivation and inspiration. However, innovative leader needs to recognize when his project is not working and be able to kill it even when it is hard for him.

Great examples for innovative leaders are Steve Jobs (CEO of Apple) and Thomas Alva Edison (electric lighting). I want to point out  about Steve Jobs. Mainly about his famous speech in front of new graduates of Stanford University. Steve says that his life changed  basically three things. One of them was leaving university , being fired from Apple and cancer which changed his view of life itself.

He never graduated from collage. But he took calligraphy course. He used that skills in designing first Mackintosh. He believed that you can not connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards. You have to trust in something.

Apple as a corporation has gone in 10 years from 2 people working in garage to 2 billion dollar company with over 4000 employees. The irony is that he got fired from the comany he founded. He was rejected but he started over. Only way to do great work is to love what you do. Your time is limited so dont waste it in living someone elses life. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

His well known quote : If today was the last day of my life what I want to do what I am about to do today. Remebering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose.

So stay hungry, stay foolish.

13th day - M&Ms , Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden

Hey guys ! :)

Oh my God :/ I am here almost 2 weeks. It is going so fast. Some of my friends are leaving. I will miss them. Today I had some classes and then went to Piccadilly Circus. Typical rush in London. I . bought one pack of these . We took selfie with National Gallery and stopped in Pret and Manger. The lovely  waiter eas there again. We wrote a note to the box for the team. LOL We found cinema in West End. Want to go there on Monday. Covent Garden was just on the corner. We bought donuts and found Aldo. Where I found the best hat I have ever seen. Of course I bought it. 12th day - Old Spitalfields Market & Brick Lane

Heyy ! :)
Today is Thursday. It means just one class ! Then I had to wait for others till 3 pm. I wasnt bored because I had so much work to do. Write that essay and add post to my blog. Then I met others and we went to Old Spitalfields Market together. We took many tube lines to get there. We were quite lost. hahh But we asked random people walking around for directions. This market is full of vintage clothes and jewelery. They had the nicest dress ever. During walking around the market me and Viki lost our friends. So we went to restaurant called The Diner and ordered blueberry pancakes. Delicious. hmmm. We were so full afterwards. We had happily arrived to Brick Lane. You can see there interesting grafiti on the walls. Vintage shops and strange people in front of restaurants. I wrote my name on one of that walls. Maybe next year I will find it there. Who knows.

10th & 11th day - school, school, school

New school week has already started.  My Tuesdays  and Wednesdays are the longest days. I have 5 or 4 classes per day. Yeah I know that in normal school is usual to sit  there 7 hours. But they are 45 minutes and these are 80 minutes long. It is great when you have funny teacher and you are doing interesting stuff. But sometimes you have professional English and so boring teacher. Endless 2 classes. Ahh. In general English we are learning about leadership. I have to bring essay about some leader from Slovakia. I guess I will do it about Peter Sagan. This day was birthday for Luna. 17 :) I bought her chocolate cupcake.

On Wednesday I had school till 7 too. I changed my timetable little bit. Now I have instead Professional English  something like B2 skills. Happy girlll. At home I had lasagne. Yummy. I had skype call marathon whole evening. My parents, grandma, boyfriend. I had to clean up things in my suitcase. Total mess before as well as Lunas.

8th & 9th day - Oxford and Museum

On Sunday we went with EF  to Oxford. Historical student city. We had to meet at 8:30 in front of one theatre. I thought I had enough time to get to Waterloo. But the train was delayed and I was like what the hell I am going to do now. But happily I got there 5 minutes before actual leaving. Bus full of students headed to Oxford. I was sitting next to Viki and we talked a lot. In the back were sitting Portugese girls. Funny and loud. hh Surprisingly the weather there was awesome. Sunny and I could wear just shirt. EF staff walked us around the main things and then we had free time. Me, Viki and boy from Denmark ( Mark ) were the best 3.

Oxford is calm and small against London. They had grat market and some cute streets with shops. We went to really big book shop . 5 floors I think. I bought Paper Towns (John Green) and in Lush little pleasure for me. Bubblegum lip scrub. I can actually eat it. There were so many good restaurants. We stopped in one of them and Mark had fish&chips, me and viki pasta. Really delicious. I was so hungry so I ate it in a few seconds. hh The meeting point was near the church. Afterwards our group visited places where Harry Potter was filmed. It was aaaaah , u know. I used to be Potterhead. Then we went home and chill in host family.

On Monday many EF studens have weekend. I happened to us too. My first plan was to go to Notting Hill Crnival with friends of my dad. But it was so rainy outside that we rather did not go. I met Viki under the big clock and took  so maaaaany tube lines to get near Natural History Museum. It was probably just coincidence that everybody in London had the same thoughts. It is a bank holiday, it is raining and we do not want to sit at home.We had to wait in a row for about an hour. We had our umbrellas but we were all wet..somehow. My boots are not waterproof. Sadly. This museum is the best I have ever been in. So huge . We checked ou just some parts. I like that they have different examples and experiments. When we were tired od walking and hungry as wolfs it was the right time to sit down and find a restaurant. Then we vistited shops in one part of Oxford Street. Urban Outfitters, River Island, Primark, Forever 21. I have radomly picked up clothes and tried it on. For fun. They had thought I was not normal. I liked sooo many things. I gave myself a commitment that this week I will not spend too much money for not important things. I went home totally tired and fell asleep.
